This 12-week internship (mid-January through mid-April 2025) offers a part-time
opportunity (20 hours per week) to work on meaningful projects with our Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn and apply AutoCAD/Civil 3D and ArcGIS PRO software.
• Assist with engineering reports, cost estimation, utility computations, and civil
design.
• Support the permitting process and attend project meetings.
• Conduct field visits and coordinate with utility companies and municipalities.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled as a third- or fourth-year student in a Civil or Environmental
Engineering program, or a recent graduate, or have relevant experience in design or
related fields.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); AutoCAD or GIS knowledge is
a plus.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work-hour requirements.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn technical concepts.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
Compensation:

I. Introduction and Background
The Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe (CATT) is a member-based nonprofit
organization serving contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers in the Truckee
and Tahoe region. Established in 1998, CATT’s mission is to promote a positive business
environment for the construction industry and enhance the quality of life in our community.
CATT operates under two nonprofit structures:
● CATT (501(c)(6)): Focused on advocacy, education, and networking for its members.
● CATT Community Project (501(c)(3)): Dedicated to charitable and educational
activities benefiting the community.
Additionally, CATT manages the financial operations of a California Sponsored Political Action
Committee (PAC), ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
We are seeking a qualified accountant to support our complex financial operations, which
include nonprofit accounting, PAC financial management, budget preparation, and coordination
with CPAs for tax filings and the Executive Director for yearly budget work.
The CATT group of companies manage four checking accounts, 1 savings account, 2 CD
accounts, 2 money market accounts and one investment account. Totaling over 2000 transactions
yearly.
II. Scope of Services
The selected accountant will be responsible for the following:

1.) Nonprofit Accounting:

● Maintain accurate financial records for both the 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) entities, adhering
to IRS and state-specific regulations.
● Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and filing requirements.
● Preparation of Payroll twice monthly

2.) PAC Financial Management:

● Oversee the financial operations of CATT’s Political Action Committee, ensuring
compliance with California’s Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) guidelines.

●Prepare and submit required semiannual financial disclosures and reports for the PAC

3.) Budget Preparation:

● Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and manage CATT’s annual budgets
for the 501(c)(6), 501(c)(3), and PAC entities.
● Provide financial forecasting and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making.

4.) Tax Coordination:

● Work closely with CATT’s CPA firm to facilitate the preparation and filing of tax returns
for the 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) entities.
● Provide necessary documentation and support to ensure timely and accurate filings.
● File 990EZ when appropriate

5.) Financial Reporting:

● Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements to the Executive Director
● Develop financial summaries for annual reports and/or audits.
● CATT holds several event fundraisers throughout the year and requires financial
reporting for these events and coordination with staff
● The use of Association Management Software “Growth Zone” is required

6.) Regulatory Compliance:

● Stay up to date with financial regulations affecting nonprofit organizations and political
action committees.
● Implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.

III. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

● Proven experience in nonprofit accounting, specifically with 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3)
organizations.
● Familiarity with the financial and regulatory requirements of California-sponsored
Political Action Committees (PACs).
● Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax coordination. ●
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with CPAs, executive staff,
and board members.
● Proficiency in Quickbooks online, MS Excel and other financial management tools.

IV. Proposal Requirements

Interested parties must submit a complete proposal that includes the following:

1.) Cover Letter:
● A brief introduction summarizing your interest, qualifications, and approach to the
outlined services.
2.) Relevant Experience:
● Detailed descriptions of your experience with 501(c)(6), 501(c)(3), and PAC accounting.
● Examples of previous work with similar organizations.
3.) Staffing and Resources:
● Information about the individuals who will provide services and their credentials.
4.) Approach and Methodology:
● Your approach to meeting the requirements outlined in the Scope of Services.
5.) References:
● Contact information for at least three professional references familiar with your nonprofit
and PAC work.
6.) Cost Proposal:
● Detailed fee structure, including hourly rates or fixed fees for specific services.
