In these times of change and challenge, we must stand united, fighting for our rights, the future of our beloved community, and the ability to practice our trades in the Town of Truckee. Today, I bring you crucial updates on recent developments and a call to action that cannot be ignored.

The decision by the Town of Truckee to cease issuing Temporary Certificates of Occupancy hits close to home for many of us. While presented as a matter of safety and compliance, it cannot be overlooked that this move represents yet another layer of regulation infringing on our workforce's and homeowner's rights based on nonexistent data. The Local Government Affairs Committee (LGAC) & CATT Political Action Committee (CATTPAC) are actively engaged in advocating for our rights, pushing back against overreach, and ensuring that our voices are heard loud and clear in the corridors of power. CATT LGAC and CATTPAC are where the action is and there is a lot to defend against. The LGAC will be meeting with the Town of Truckee on February 20th, 2024 at 9:30 am in the Prosser room of Town Hall, you are invited, RSVP to execdir@ca-tt.com.

Similarly, the Truckee Tahoe Fire District's plan to enforce fire compliance through neighbor policing raises concerns about privacy and community dynamics. In short, the district will, in our opinion, enact a moratorium on building with its new proposed codes by requiring YOU to police developed and undeveloped land next to your property before you can build on yours. While we all prioritize safety, it's vital to maintain a balance that respects individual rights and liberties. Once again, CATT is at the forefront, championing our rights and striving for solutions that prioritize both safety and common sense policy. We will be meeting with the Fire District very soon.

In the face of these challenges, volunteering for the CATT PAC and the Local Government Affairs Committee takes on heightened importance.These committees serve as our frontline defenders, tirelessly working to push back against over-regulation and ensure that our community fights off nonsensical over-regulation. Your involvement is not just encouraged; it's essential for the preservation of our way of life.
